Working...
Today was the final day of the cross country season. The Stanton Cross Country teams were looking to end a record setting season on the right note, as in this season the mustangs would send more runners to the state meet then in the entire programs history combined. The girls would run first in a field of the 124 of the best girls from all over class D. Audry Novotny would get out to her best start of the season and the follow that by keeping the pressure on for the whole race eventually moving up to 22nd place and clocking the best time that has ever been run by a Stanton girl of 16:46. Brittni Hart would also have a great race. As the only returning runner at the state meet for the mustangs, improving her time from last years state meet by 25 seconds to log a time of 17:28. Also, she would improve on her place finish from last year by 19 spots to finish 40th.
The Stanton boys team would be next. This would be the first trip to the state meet for both of the boys, and they would have a good experience to take with them. The Mustang boys would get out as they have all year and then move up as the race moved on. Grant Nordby would lead the tandem to the finish line placing 77th in the 121 athlete field , and logging a time of 19:38 for the 3.1 mile course. Colton Sperl would not be far behind, placing 80th in a time of 19:41.
All four athletes will return next season along with the rest of this years team, if they continue to work as hard as they have this season only good things will happen next year.
