District meet

10/15/09

On the first dry day they have had to run in weeks, the Stanton mustangs responded with an outstanding performances.  First, Brittni Hart and Audry Novotny would take on a field of girls from 15 different schools.  Both had aspirations of making it to the state meet, and both would meet that reality.  Brittni would finish the 2.5 mile race in a time of 17:02, and place thirteenth to punch her ticket to the State meet.  Then Audry would have her breakout race of the season finishing with in time of 16:37, placing 10th .  Both would work together for the first mile then Audry broke away from the pack to catch a three more runners.

The boys would have an equally productive day at Rolling Hills Country Club,  the team would race against a field of boys from 18 teams.  Patrick Kosmacek and Zach Doffin had raced very well for this being freshman and their first season of Cross Country.  They would continue their improvement on the season at the District meet, catching and beating athletes that they had yet to beat this season.  Grant Nordby would boldly take the race out completing the first mile of 3.1 miles in a time of 5:38.   Then would hold on to finish the race in a time of 18:47, for 13th place.  And receiving race of the week nominations from Coach Ernesti is Colton Sperl.  Colton would begin the race very consistent with how he has done all season, settling in to 18th place for much of the race.  Then on the last half of a mile, with a blazing kick would close a gap the length of a football field to surpass three runners grabbing the last available spot (15th) in a time of 18:53.
